A quarter moon is a phase of the moon that occurs halfway between a new moon and a full moon. During this phase, only half of the moon is illuminated and visible from Earth. The term "quarter" is used because the illuminated portion of the moon appears to be divided into four equal parts. The shape of the moon during this phase resembles a half-circle or a semi-circle.
