The cells that have the most mitochondria are typically muscle cells. Muscle cells require a significant amount of energy to perform their functions, such as contracting and relaxing, and mitochondria are responsible for producing most of this energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Therefore, muscle cells need a large number of mitochondria to meet their high energy demands.
