The Federal Art Project (FAP) was a program within the WPA that hired artists to create artwork for public spaces. Artists were commissioned to paint murals, create sculptures, design posters, and produce other forms of artwork that would be displayed in government buildings, schools, libraries, and other public spaces. This not only provided jobs for artists but also contributed to the beautification of public buildings and promoted the arts within communities.
