After the Bible had been mass produced, printers used the printing press to create thousands of copies of other books as well. Between 1568 and 1600, millions of books were written and produced throughout Europe. Ancient Greek and Roman texts were printed by the thousands and sent all over Europe which helped the Renaissance spread far and wide. High, Middle and even some low class people hurried to learn to read so they could participate in the spreading academic climate. As a result, literacy levels increased all over Europe.
