The idea that the Earth was at the center of the solar system and that all other celestial bodies revolved around it was the most contested idea of the egocentric model. This concept, known as geocentrism, was widely supported by religious and philosophical authorities, as it aligned with the belief in the divine and the importance of humanity. It took centuries for this idea to be challenged and eventually replaced by the heliocentric model proposed by Nicolaus Copernicus in the 16th century, which stated that the Sun was at the center of the solar system.
