Good Day, Students!

Today you will be completing your Science Sample Work assessment and studying for your unit test which you will take tomorrow.

For your Sample Work assignment, you will write a reflection about your learning this unit. Your reflections should be 3-5 sentences long and you need to use the sentence starts given on page 1 of this lesson.

Sentence starters:

I am confident that I can describe three basic life processes carried out by plants, including how these processes depend on each other.
I know structures of plants, and how they function to promote survival, defense and reproduction.
I am confident that I can describe a variety of ways that plants respond to external stimuli, and how these responses relate to life processes.
Using the sentence starters are key to earning a top score!

Don't forget tomorrow is your unit test so be sure to study! WRITE ME 3-5 sentences

I am confident that I can describe three basic life processes carried out by plants, including how these processes depend on each other. Throughout this unit, I have learned that plants carry out the processes of photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration. Photosynthesis is crucial for plants to produce food and oxygen, while respiration allows them to release energy. Transpiration helps plants regulate their temperature and transport nutrients and water.

I know structures of plants, and how they function to promote survival, defense, and reproduction. Through this unit, I have learned about the different structures of plants such as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Each of these structures plays a vital role in the survival, defense, and reproduction of plants. For example, root systems help plants absorb water and nutrients from the soil, while flowers attract pollinators for reproduction.

I am confident that I can describe various ways that plants respond to external stimuli, and how these responses relate to life processes. Throughout this unit, I have explored how plants respond to stimuli such as light, gravity, and touch. Plants exhibit tropisms, which are growth responses towards or away from stimuli. These responses are essential for their survival and growth, as they allow plants to obtain light for photosynthesis, orient themselves for optimal growth, and avoid harmful conditions.
