As of now, there have been two astronauts from Oklahoma who have flown in space. Their names are:

1. Thomas P. Stafford - Stafford was born on September 17, 1930, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He flew on Gemini 6A in 1965, Gemini 9A in 1966, and Apollo 10 in 1969. He was the Commander of Apollo 10, which was a lunar module test mission, and came within 8.4 nautical miles of the moon's surface.

2. Shannon Lucid - Lucid was born on January 14, 1943, in Shanghai, China, but she considers Bethany, Oklahoma, as her hometown. She flew on five space missions, including STS-51-G in 1985, STS-34 in 1989, STS-43 in 1991, STS-58 in 1993, and STS-76 in 1996. Lucid also held the record for the most time spent in space by a woman, spending a total of 223 days, 2 hours, and 50 minutes in space.
