What is assessment of learning ?

Assessment of learning refers to the process of evaluating and measuring students' achievements and progress using various methods and tools. It is typically done at the end of a unit, course, or program to determine the extent to which students have achieved the desired learning outcomes and to assign grades or scores.

Assessment of learning aims to provide feedback to both students and teachers about the effectiveness of instruction and the students' level of understanding and mastery of the subject matter. It involves the use of tests, quizzes, exams, projects, presentations, portfolios, and other assessment tools to gather evidence of what students have learned. The results of these assessments are often used for accountability purposes, such as determining promotion to the next grade level or admission to higher education institutions.

The assessment of learning is different from assessment for learning, which is an ongoing, formative process used to inform instruction and provide immediate feedback to students so that they can improve their learning. Assessment of learning, on the other hand, is a summative process that focuses on evaluating the overall achievement of students at a specific point in time.
