Deism is a belief system that says there is a higher power, like a creator or God, who made the world. But instead of being involved in people's lives every day, this higher power just set things in motion and then stepped back to let things happen naturally. They believe that the world and the universe follow certain laws and rules, and that science and reason can help us understand these laws. So basically, deists believe in a distant, hands-off kind of God who created everything but doesn't interfere with our lives.
