One quote that really made me think while reading Night was on page 80, when the narrator describes how the SS soldiers were mocking and ridiculing the new arrivals to Auschwitz. The narrator states, "The SS were shouting and writing and swarming around us with their sticks. We were ordered to roll out. We were dragged off the wagons like bundles of waste." This quote really struck me because it shows the dehumanization and humiliation the Jews were subjected to upon their arrival. It made me think about how easily people can be reduced to mere objects and treated with such cruelty. It also made me reflect on the power dynamics and the senselessness of the Holocaust, where the Nazis treated innocent people with such disdain.

Regarding the piece of art I viewed today, I analyzed Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night." The mood of the painting is serene and peaceful, as the bright stars in a deep blue sky evoke a sense of tranquility. The swirls and curves in the sky and the village below create a dynamic and energetic tone. The use of contrasting colors, such as the yellow stars against the dark blue sky, adds to the vibrancy and liveliness of the painting. Additionally, the brushstrokes are expressive and thick, giving a sense of movement and vitality to the scene. Overall, "Starry Night" has a dreamlike and otherworldly mood, while its dynamic and energetic tones convey a sense of awe and wonder.
