2 things I’ve found interested about the Mexican American war

1) The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo: This treaty, signed in 1848, marked the end of the Mexican-American War. It resulted in Mexico ceding a significant portion of its territory to the United States, including present-day California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The treaty, however, also promised protection for the rights and property of Mexican citizens living in the newly acquired territories, although these promises were not always upheld.

2) The role of Ulysses S. Grant: One lesser-known fact about the Mexican-American War is that many future prominent military figures participated in the conflict, including Ulysses S. Grant, who would later become the 18th President of the United States. Grant served as a young officer in several key battles, such as the Battle of Molino del Rey and the Battle of Chapultepec. The experience gained during this war greatly influenced Grant's later successful military career during the American Civil War.
