As I put myself in Giles Corey's shoes from The Crucible, Act 3, Part 3, I can't help but feel the weight of anguish and desperation that he carries. Giles Corey is a simple, hardworking farmer, who is deeply concerned about his wife's well-being. He sees her being falsely accused of witchcraft, along with numerous others in their community. In his pursuit of justice and truth, Giles Corey is faced with a daunting challenge of speaking out against the corrupt court system. His perspective is one of responsibility and determination, as he believes it is his duty to expose the truth and protect his loved ones. Yet, at the same time, there is also a palpable sense of fear and vulnerability, knowing that his own life might be in jeopardy. Despite these obstacles, Giles Corey remains unwavering in his pursuit of justice, reminding us of the immense strength and courage that can be found within the hearts of ordinary individuals.
