Summary of Part 2:

What do you notice that’s different about the behavior of sugar and salt when each substance is placed in water?
What do you notice that’s different about the type of elements (metals & nonmetals) that are in salt and sugar?

In Part 2 of the experiment, it can be observed that when sugar is placed in water, it dissolves completely and disappears into the solution. On the other hand, when salt is added to water, it also dissolves but leaves behind a residue in the form of tiny particles.

Regarding the type of elements present in salt and sugar, salt is composed of two elements – sodium and chlorine – both of which are classified as metals. Sugar, on the other hand, is made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, which are all nonmetals.
