Some Jews who opposed the Gentiles were called zealots or Jewish extremists. These groups sought to resist Roman rule and maintain Jewish religious and cultural practices. Another term used for these opposition groups was the anti-Hellenists, as they opposed the Hellenistic influence and the assimilation of Jewish traditions with Greek culture.
