What is the function of anther

The function of an anther is to produce and release pollen grains during the process of pollination in flowering plants. The anther is the top part of the male reproductive organ called the stamen, which also includes a filament. Each anther contains several pollen sacs called microsporangia, where the pollen grains are formed. Once mature, the anther dehisces (opens up) to release the pollen, which can then be carried by wind, insects, or other agents to the female reproductive organ of another flower for fertilization.
