One weakness of the Articles of Confederation was the lack of a strong central government, leading to difficulties in enforcing laws and collecting taxes. This resulted in a weak economic system and an inability to properly fund and maintain a standing army. Another weakness was the absence of a unified system of currency, causing trade and commerce between states to be complicated and inefficient. These weaknesses ultimately led to the creation of a new Constitution that established a more centralized government with the power to enforce laws, regulate trade, and maintain a stronger national defense.
