What is WIC

WIC, which stands for Women, Infants, and Children, is a federal assistance program in the United States that provides support to low-income pregnant women, new mothers, and young children. The program aims to improve the health and nutrition of these individuals by offering nutritious food, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support. WIC participants receive monthly vouchers that can be used to purchase approved items such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy products, and infant formula. WIC also provides referrals to healthcare and social services to ensure all the needs of the participants are met.
