In 3–5 sentences, explain how the Aztecs tried to adapt to their environment and whether they were successful.(4 points)

The Aztecs adapted to their environment by constructing chinampas, which were artificial islands used for agriculture. They built these islands by piling up layers of mud and plants on top of each other in the shallow waters of Lake Texcoco. This allowed them to grow crops, such as maize and beans, and greatly expanded their agricultural capabilities. Overall, their adaptability and innovative farming methods were successful, as they were able to support a large population and create a thriving civilization in the harsh conditions of the marshy lake region.
