White light is not made up of only types of visible light with very long wavelength, ultraviolet light, gamma rays, red light, and radio waves. White light is actually a combination of all the colors of the visible light spectrum. When white light passes through a prism or is refracted, it separates into its constituent colors, forming a continuous spectrum of colors from violet to blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. This is known as the visible light spectrum. Ultraviolet light, gamma rays, and radio waves are not part of the visible light spectrum and cannot be seen as colors by the human eye.
