Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) melting point analysis is a reliable method to test if two similar looking solids with comparable melting points are identical or not. DSC measures the heat flow into or out of a sample as it is heated, providing information about phase transitions, including melting and solidification points. By comparing the DSC graphs of the two samples, any differences in their melting behavior can be easily identified. If the melting points and melting behavior match, it suggests that the two solids are likely identical.
