Identify the causes of genetic variation as associated either with inheritance of traits or with mutations.

Genetic variation in successive generations can be caused either by natural occurrences, which can be explained by inheritance of traits, or by mutation.
Put responses in the correct input to answer the question. Select a response, navigate to the desired input and insert the response. Responses can be selected and inserted using the space bar, enter key, left mouse button or touchpad. Responses can also be moved by dragging with a mouse.

- Inheritance of traits: Genetic variation can occur when individuals receive different combinations of genes from their parents through processes such as recombination during sexual reproduction.

- Mutations: Genetic variation can also be caused by mutations, which are changes in the DNA sequence that can be inherited from parent to offspring or occur spontaneously during DNA replication. Mutations can introduce new genetic variations in a population over time.
