1. The arrival of Buddhism in China took place during the Eastern Han Dynasty in the 1st century. It was further consolidated and established during the Northern Wei Dynasty in the 5th century.

2. Buddhism's introduction to China can be traced back to the 1st century CE when it arrived via the Silk Road trade routes. Initially, Buddhist scriptures and teachings were brought by Central Asian merchants and traders. The official introduction and acceptance of Buddhism, however, occurred with the arrival of two prominent Indian monks, Dharmaraksa in 266 CE and Kumārajīva in 401 CE, during the Northern Wei Dynasty. These monks, along with translations of Buddhist scriptures, played a pivotal role in spreading and establishing Buddhism as a major religion in China.
