The devastating explosion instantly killed an estimated 70,000 people and resulted in long-term effects such as radiation sickness and severe burns. This event marked the first use of nuclear weapons in warfare.

Year: 1945
Description: Three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, on August 9, 1945, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb named "Fat Man" on the city of Nagasaki, Japan. The bomb exploded over the Urakami district, causing widespread destruction and casualties. Approximately 40,000 people were killed immediately, and the long-term effects of radiation exposure continued to cause suffering in the years to come. The bombing of Nagasaki served as a turning point that led to Japan's surrender, effectively ending World War II.
