Which kind of men did Plato believe should rule

Plato believed that philosopher-kings, or philosopher-rulers, should be the rulers of the ideal state. According to him, these individuals would possess superior knowledge, wisdom, and virtue, allowing them to govern society in the most just and beneficial way. Plato believed that philosophers were uniquely suited to rule because they were detached from material desires and were genuinely committed to the pursuit of truth and justice. He argued that only when philosophers became kings and kings became philosophers would there be true harmony and prosperity in society.
