Henry McNeal Turner was an influential African American religious leader, politician, and advocate for civil rights. He became one of the first African American chaplains in the United States Army during the Civil War and later became a bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Turner played a significant role in the fight for racial equality and was a vocal critic of white supremacy and segregation.
