The newest parts of the Earth's crust are predominantly located at mid-ocean ridges. These underwater mountain ranges form at divergent plate boundaries where tectonic plates move apart. As the plates separate, magma rises from the mantle and fills the gap, solidifying to form new crust. This process leads to the continuous creation of new crust at mid-ocean ridges.
