The development of the eye in the human embryo occurs between the 3rd and 10th week of development. The eye develops from neuroectoderm, surface ectoderm, neural crest, and mesoderm.

In an experiment, fluorescent eye markers are injected into the mesoderm of a mouse embryo in the 3rd week of development. Observation of eye development takes place over the next 7 weeks. The tissues of the eye are carefully evaluated for the marker.
