The Battle of Bunker Hill (also known as the Battle of Breed's Hill) is considered the first major battle of the American Revolution. It took place on June 17, 1775, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, near Boston. Although the British won the battle, the American colonists exhibited their determination and ability to stand against the British army, which further fueled the revolution.
