To practice multiplying and dividing rational numbers, here are a few examples:
1) Multiply: (-3/4) * (5/6)
To multiply rational numbers, multiply the numerators and then multiply the denominators:
(-3/4) * (5/6) = (-3 * 5) / (4 * 6) = -15/24
2) Divide: (2/3) ÷ (1/5)
To divide rational numbers, multiply the first number by the reciprocal of the second number:
(2/3) ÷ (1/5) = (2/3) * (5/1) = (2 * 5) / (3 * 1) = 10/3
3) Multiply: 2/3 * (-4/7)
Remember to include negative signs when multiplying rational numbers with negative values:
2/3 * (-4/7) = (2 * -4) / (3 * 7) = -8/21
4) Divide: (-9/5) ÷ (-2/3)
When dividing rational numbers, it is important to multiply by the reciprocal of the second number:
(-9/5) ÷ (-2/3) = (-9/5) * (3/-2) = (9/5) * (2/3) = (9 * 2) / (5 * 3) = 18/15
