Daoism focused on living in harmony with nature and finding balance, but its emphasis on passiveness and non-action could sometimes lead to a lack of involvement in societal issues and a disregard for the well-being of others.
The Mandate of Heaven, which served as a basis for dynastic rule in ancient China, could be abused by rulers to justify their oppressive actions. It also limited political power to a single ruling class, leaving the majority of the population without a voice in governance.
Overall, while these belief systems had their merits, they also had significant drawbacks and limitations in terms of personal freedoms, gender equality, social progress, and political participation.
