I made cookies and they taste like dish soap can anyone explain why

There are a few possible explanations for cookies tasting like dish soap:

1. Contaminated equipment: If you used a bowl, whisk, or other utensils that were not properly cleaned and still had dish soap residue on them, it can transfer to the cookies and affect their taste.

2. Inadequately rinsed ingredients: If you used ingredients such as butter or eggs that were not thoroughly rinsed after washing, they may retain some dish soap residue which can transfer to the cookies.

3. Cross-contamination: If you used the same baking sheet or tray that was previously used to clean dishes or held cleaning supplies, it can also result in the cookies tasting like dish soap.

4. Incorrect ingredient measurement: If you accidentally added too much dish soap instead of another ingredient, it can greatly affect the taste of the cookies.

To avoid this issue in the future, make sure to properly wash and rinse all equipment and ingredients before using them in your baking. Additionally, using separate equipment for baking and dishwashing, as well as avoiding cross-contamination, can prevent unwanted flavors in your cookies.
