CAMP LAKEBOTTOM
The air was thick with anticipation as Ivy and her best friend, Sarah, arrived at the remote summer camp nestled deep in the woods. The sun had already dipped below the horizon, casting eerie shadows across the camp's rustic cabins. Excitement and nervousness mingled in their hearts as they joined the other campers around a crackling bonfire.
As night fell, Ivy and Sarah walked to their shared cabin, feeling the chill of the forest's embrace. The wooden walls creaked in the wind, and the flickering lanterns barely glowed in the darkness outside. Ivy's heart raced with an unusual unease, but she brushed it off as just first-night jitters. Lying on her bunk, Ivy noticed a folded piece of paper sticking out from beneath her pillow; curiosity drew her in, she retrieved the note and unfolded it. In trembling handwriting, the message read:

Dearest fellow reader,
If you are reading this then it could already be too late, but this camp is haunted, I need you to know to never come or step out of the rooms after 9:00 at night. Because they will get you, just like how they took my fellow campmates, and almost me. They will not stop, until they get a fresh human in their hands, and they will do whatever it takes to get you. But most importantly, you need to get out of here now! You need to escape this place and tell the rest of the world, to make sure that no living thing comes back to this camp EVER AGAIN!! All of the pressure is on you now, as I have done the most I could have done
best of luck,
Angelica Robertsen 1983

Ivy's pulse quickened, and her gaze darted to the door. The cabin seemed to close in on her, every sound magnified to an unsettling volume. Sarah was sleeping soundly in the bunk opposite her, unaware of the threatening message. With trembling hands, Ivy placed the note under her mattress, uncertain of its truth. She could not simply leave, not without more evidence. Despite her unease, she decided to wait until morning to discuss it with Sarah.

The night dragged on, the only sounds the distant hoot hoot of an owl and the eerie rustling of leaves. Then, a nail-biting scream pierced the silence, and Ivy jolted upright. She recognized the voice-it was Sarah's. Panic surged through her as she rushed to the window. The moonlight revealed a shadowy figure moving outside, but it was impossible to make out who or what it was. Ivy's mind raced, her heart pounding in her chest. Without thinking, she burst out of the cabin and followed the footsteps that led away from the scene of Sarah's scream. She could hear the crunching of leaves and the faint whispers of the forest. In the mud, she discovered footprints, enormous and strange, like a beast. Fear coursed through her veins as she followed the tracks deeper into the woods.

The trail led her to a clearing, and Ivy's breath caught in her throat. There, she saw an unusual creature with shaggy limbs and piercing yellow eyes. It was dragging Sarah away, who lay terrified and helpless in its grip. Ivy's instincts kicked in, and she leaped forward to save her friend. She fought with all her might, but the creature was stronger. In a desperate try, Ivy grabbed a nearby branch that was as strong as metal and struck the creature across the face. It let out an ear-piercing screech and released Sarah.

Grabbing her friend's hand, Ivy fled deeper into the forest, the creature in hot pursuit. They raced through the tangled forest, every footstep echoing with dread. The dark trees seemed to close in on them as they pushed on, their only goal to escape the hostile creature chasing them. Their lungs burned, but they dared not stop. With one final burst of energy, they managed to outpace the creature, losing it in the dense foliage. Gasping for breath, they finally reached the camp, exhausted and terrified.

Returning to their cabin, Ivy and Sarah recounted their horrifying encounter to the other campers; many were doubtful, thinking it was just a scary campfire story, but the look of terror in their eyes convinced some. They insisted they had to leave immediately. The camp's director, acknowledging their fear, gave the order to pack up and depart. Panic rippled through the camp as belongings were fastly gathered. In the cold light of day, they loaded onto buses, leaving behind the ominous forest and the eerie secrets it held.

As the campers departed, Ivy and Sarah breathed a sigh of relief, their friendship forever bound by the horrors they had faced. Their chilling encounter remained etched in their minds, a reminder that sometimes the darkest of nightmares lurk in the most unsuspecting places.

Characters My main character, Emmanuel, is a small boy that is excited to go on an excursion a place called Dinosaur Land - essentially Jurrasic Park but named differently. Emmanuel is small, he's a mouse - not literally - and some kids are bullying him on the bus about being eaten by a dinosaur. This makes him a little sad, but the thought of seeing dinosaurs cheers him up.
Settings The setting is pretty standard - the town itself is called Nangas and Dinosaur Land is on the edge of town. Nangas had a lot of eshays - those were the kids who were bullying Emmanuel on the bus. Otherwise, it's mostly just "bland green trees flanking the rest of the concrete jungle" making up the scenery.
Events The main plot event is pretty wholesome - Emmanuel just seeing and describing dinosaurs. He does have a vision of a dinosaur eating one of the eshays, but he breaks out of the trance and decides, "I'm glad that he wasn't eaten by a dinosaur. He might be an eshay, but he at least deserves a second chance."
