In my opinion, the most important reform movement that I learned about during this unit was the Civil Rights Movement. This movement aimed to end racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans in the United States. It had a profound impact on society as it led to the outlawing of segregation and the establishment of equal rights for all citizens. The Civil Rights Movement not only brought about legislative changes such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, but it also ignited a shift in societal attitudes towards racial equality. Its influence can still be seen today, as it paved the way for future social justice movements and inspired people across the world to fight for their rights.
