Mali's emperor mansa musa made the original pilgrimage to the Arabian city of mecca or ciaro

Mansa Musa, the emperor of Mali, made his famous pilgrimage (hajj) to the holy city of Mecca, not Cairo. However, on his way to Mecca, he passed through several cities, including Cairo, where he famously spent lavishly and distributed so much gold that it caused a notable economic inflation in the region.

Mansa Musa's pilgrimage occurred in 1324–1325 and is one of the most well-documented episodes of his reign, primarily because of the profound impact it had on the economies and the societies of the regions he passed through, as well as the visibility it gave to the wealth and power of Mali to the broader Islamic world and later to Europe.
