In this activity, you will make a plan to meet career, family, and personal goals.

You will create a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation. Include a title slide and choose a design for your presentation that is consistent, organized, and helps you communicate information in a clear way.

Your presentation will describe your plan with the first 5 of the 8 steps outlined in capd(dot)mit(dot)edu/resources/make-a-career-plan/
1. Identify your career options.
2. Prioritize important details including family.
3. Make comparisons between careers and match them to your priorities.
4. Consider other factors including the effects of a career on your personal and family goals.
5. Choose a career and justify your decision.
Here is a suggested outline for the presentation:

Slide 1- Title slide
Slide 2- List at least 2 career options that you would like to pursue.
Slide 3- Describe 3-4 priorities you have for yourself and your family. What is most important to you about a job you will have: Location? Pay? Benefits? Schedule?
Slide 4- Compare the two careers based on your priorities. Write 3-4 sentences to describe how your personal and family priorities fit with the career options.
Slide 5- Think about other factors in each of the 2 jobs/careers that might affect your choice for you and/or your family. Will you have a work schedule that you will like? Will the pay and benefits meet your needs?
Slide 6- Make a choice and write about the job you will choose and the reasons you selected it.

Make it into an essay instead.

Title: Career, Family, and Personal Goals: A Step-by-Step Plan

Introduction:
Creating a career plan that aligns with your family and personal goals is crucial for a well-balanced and fulfilling life. In this presentation, we will explore the first 5 steps of developing a comprehensive plan to meet these goals.

Slide 1: Title Slide
[Include a visually appealing title slide with an appropriate design.]

Slide 2: Identify your career options
- Option 1: Marketing Manager
- Option 2: Human Resources Specialist

Slide 3: Prioritize important details including family
When considering job options, it is important to prioritize elements that align with your family's needs and your personal aspirations. Some key priorities may include:
1. Location: Seeking opportunities in a city with better educational institutions for children.
2. Pay: Prioritizing a stable income that allows for financial security and growth for both family and personal goals.
3. Benefits: Valuing comprehensive health and insurance benefits due to family commitments.
4. Schedule: Desiring a flexible work schedule to ensure a healthy work-life balance.

Slide 4: Compare the two careers based on priorities
The Marketing Manager role aligns well with my priorities as it offers opportunities in various cities, providing better educational prospects for my children. Additionally, the position offers a competitive salary and benefits package that would support my family's financial needs. However, the schedule might be demanding at times, potentially affecting work-life balance.

On the other hand, the Human Resources Specialist role also meets my priorities. While it may not present the extensive location options of the Marketing Manager, it offers a stable income and benefits, allowing for financial security. Moreover, the job typically provides a more flexible schedule, enhancing the potential for an improved work-life balance.

Slide 5: Consider other factors affecting your choice
Apart from priorities, it is essential to evaluate other factors that can influence career decisions:
- Work Schedule: The Marketing Manager may require occasional overtime and travel, potentially impacting family life. The Human Resources Specialist's flexible schedule is appealing in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- Pay and Benefits: Both careers offer competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, ensuring your family's financial well-being.

Slide 6: Choose a career and justify your decision
After careful consideration, I have decided to pursue a career as a Human Resources Specialist. While the Marketing Manager role offers exciting location possibilities, the flexible schedule and stability of the Human Resources position align better with my family and personal goals.

By choosing the Human Resources route, I will be able to maintain a work-life balance, contributing positively to both my family and professional growth. Moreover, the stable income and comprehensive benefits package will provide financial security, ensuring a promising future for my loved ones.

In this presentation, we have explored the first 5 steps of creating a plan to meet career, family, and personal goals. By identifying career options, prioritizing important details, comparing options, considering other factors, and ultimately making a well-informed decision, we can lay the foundation for a successful and fulfilling professional journey that harmonizes with our family and personal aspirations.
