The Sumerians made bronze out of copper and tin to produce better weapons and materials than older stone tools. Bronze is an alloy created by combining copper and tin in varying ratios, typically ranging from 90% copper and 10% tin to 70% copper and 30% tin. This blend of metals resulted in a much harder and stronger material than pure copper, allowing the Sumerians to create more effective weapons and tools during the Bronze Age.
