The Siege of Savannah, which took place during the American Revolution from September to October 1779, involved several parties. On one side, there was the Continental Army led by General Benjamin Lincoln, consisting of American forces comprised of soldiers from different colonies. They were supported by the French Navy commanded by Admiral d'Estaing, which included French soldiers and sailors. On the other side, there was the British Army commanded by General Augustin Prevost, backed by loyalist forces, which were colonists who remained loyal to the British crown. The native Creek Indians were also involved, some siding with the British and others supporting the American cause.
