God’s justice is not limited to a specific historical era or confined to particular situations recorded in Scripture. God is eternal and does not change. His unchanging nature assures us that God is as just today as He has ever been.

Unfortunately, we live in a broken world where humans can distort justice. For this assignment, you will be exploring just and unjust situations. Please address the following prompts.

Select an example from your contemporary context in which ‘justice’ has been unfairly administered. Describe the material content of your example. (100 words)
Select an example from your contemporary context in which ‘justice’ is fairly administered. Describe the material content of your example. (100 words)
Describe your understanding of fairness and explain how each case corresponds to that understanding. (100 words)
D

In my contemporary context, an example of unjust justice is when individuals from marginalized communities are disproportionately targeted and unfairly treated by law enforcement. This can manifest in cases of racial profiling, excessive use of force, and wrongful convictions. The material content of this example includes instances where innocent individuals are subjected to unjust arrests, violence, or bias due to their race or social status.

On the other hand, an example of fairly administered justice in my contemporary context is a case where an individual is fairly treated and receives a fair trial, regardless of their social status or background. This could include instances where evidence is thoroughly examined, due process is followed, and the judgment is based on the merit of the case.

Fairness, in my understanding, means treating every person impartially and equally, ensuring that their rights and dignity are respected. In the case of unjust justice, fairness is violated as individuals from marginalized communities are unfairly targeted and treated. In contrast, the example of fairly administered justice aligns with my understanding of fairness as each person is given an equal opportunity to present their case and receive a fair judgment based on the evidence presented.
