In the short story "A Sound of Thunder," the character Eckels wants to escape his present world because he is dissatisfied with his life and seeks adventure. He chooses to travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs, hoping that it will provide a thrilling experience and a chance to escape the monotony of his everyday life. Similarly, in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," the protagonist Walter Mitty wants to escape his humdrum existence and enter a world of excitement and adventure. He daydreams of being a brave hero in various scenarios, as a means to escape the mundane reality of his everyday life. Both characters yearn for something beyond their ordinary lives, seeking thrill and excitement in their desired escape.
