When another dog is brought into the home, the fleas already present in the environment may start infesting the new dog as well. Fleas reproduce quickly and can easily move from one host to another, so the presence of another dog provides new opportunities for the fleas to feed, breed, and establish a new home on the newly introduced dog. This can result in the infestation spreading throughout the entire household, and both dogs becoming hosts for the fleas.
