The ICC (International Criminal Court) was established by the Rome Statute, which was adopted on July 17, 1998, and came into force on July 1, 2002. The Rome Statute was created by the United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court, held in Rome, Italy.
