The French and Indian War was a conflict that took place from 1754 to 1763 between the French and their Native American allies against the British and their Native American allies. The war was fought mainly in North America and was a result of imperial competition between France and Britain. The British ultimately won the war, gaining control of much of North America and leading to tensions that would eventually spark the American Revolution.
