The impact of the triangular trade on Africans was devastating. They were forcibly captured and enslaved, transported in overcrowded and inhumane conditions across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas, and sold as chattel slaves. They were subjected to intense labor, abuse, and torture on plantations and in mines. Families were torn apart as individuals were sold separately. This led to the loss of cultural identity, language, and traditions. The slave trade also perpetuated a system of racism and discrimination that continued long after slavery officially ended.
