Two effects of World War II were the creation of the United Nations and the division of Germany. The United Nations was established as a global organization to promote peace and resolve conflicts between nations, in an effort to avoid another world war. The division of Germany into East Germany and West Germany was a direct consequence of the war, with the eastern part falling under Soviet influence and the western part becoming democratic and aligned with the United States and other Western allies. This division led to decades of tension and conflict between the two sides.
