In The Souls of Black Folk, Du Bois sets out to explore the “double consciousness” experienced by Black Americans, the internal conflict between their African heritage and their American identity. He also aims to challenge the myths and stereotypes surrounding Black people and to advocate for their social, political, and economic equality.
