Africa is the second-largest continent in the world, covering about 30.3 million square kilometers and accounting for about 20% of the Earth's landmass. It is located primarily in the Eastern Hemisphere, with the equator running through its center. Africa is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Indian Ocean to the east, and the Red Sea to the northeast.

Africa is home to 54 recognized countries, including Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Morocco, among others. It is known for its diverse cultures, languages, and ethnic groups, with over 2,000 different languages spoken across the continent.

The continent is famous for its rich natural resources, including minerals, oil, and precious metals. It is also known for its wildlife and natural landscapes, with iconic features such as the Sahara Desert, the Nile River, the Serengeti, and the Victoria Falls.

However, Africa also faces various challenges, including poverty, political instability, conflicts, and health issues such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, and Ebola. Economic development, access to education, and infrastructure improvement are some of the ongoing priorities for many African nations.
