Carbon is also stored in the lithosphere as fossil fuels and minerals, and can be released back into the atmosphere through volcanic activity. Additionally, carbon dioxide can dissolve in water, forming a connection between the atmosphere and the hydrosphere.

2. The loss of Arctic sea ice can disrupt ocean currents and potentially impact the climate near the Western European coast. The melting ice can alter the temperature and salinity of the surrounding water, which can affect the flow of current systems like the Gulf Stream. Since the Gulf Stream helps regulate the climate in Western Europe, any changes could result in shifts in weather patterns and temperatures along the coast.
