Before Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha, he was a Hindu prince.

Siddhartha Gautama, before he became the Buddha, was a Hindu prince. Siddhartha was born into a royal family in present-day Nepal around the 6th century BCE. His father was King Suddhodana, and his mother was Queen Maya. As a prince, Siddhartha lived a life of luxury and was sheltered from the hardships of the outside world. However, he became deeply troubled by the suffering and impermanence he witnessed when he ventured outside the palace. This led him to renounce his life of privilege and embark on a spiritual journey in search of enlightenment. Ultimately, he became the Buddha, the enlightened one.
