For this activity, you will be creating a ‘mock moving plan’ for relocating to a city of your choice—but it must be outside of the state that you currently live in! Ultimately, you will be attempting to answer the question: What information do I need to research, gather, and prepare to successfully move to _________?

You will do all the necessary research, gather information, and create a plan to move to your chosen city and put together a plan for moving by working through the list of items below.

You will organize your work into a slideshow presentation that includes the following information and specified slides:

Step 1
Choose a city that you will move to.

Prepare one slide with basic information about the city: things to do, weather, average cost of living, public transportation, etc.
Step 2
Find three or four possible apartment options in your new city.

Prepare one slide per apartment with images and information that includes the following:
Rent
Amenities
Availability
Step 3
Find utility companies.

Prepare one slide that lists electric company, internet, phone, cable, gas, water and a website for each.
Include the steps and information that you would need to sign up for each of these utilities
Step 4
Include one to three slides offering information on other moving considerations (suggestions below).

Possible moving companies and prices
Specific documents needed in the state of your choice for obtaining a new driver’s license
An example of a change of address form and website to find this form
Any other tips, advice, or information that would be helpful when planning to move to another state
In addition to the information above, you will need to include a minimum of three images throughout the presentation and a list of all of the sources that you used.

To successfully complete this activity and create a mock moving plan for relocating to a city outside of your current state, you will need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Choose a city to move to
Research various cities outside of your current state and select one that you would like to move to. Consider factors such as job opportunities, cost of living, quality of life, climate, and amenities. Once you have chosen a city, create a slide that provides basic information about the city, including things to do, weather, average cost of living, public transportation options, etc. You can gather this information from city websites, travel websites, and online resources.

Step 2: Find three or four possible apartment options
Research apartment options in your chosen city. Look for apartments that fit your budget and meet your needs in terms of amenities, availability, and location. Gather information such as rent prices, amenities offered, and availability for each apartment option. Include this information along with relevant images on separate slides for each apartment option.

Step 3: Find utility companies
Identify the utility companies that serve the city you are moving to. This includes electric, internet, phone, cable, gas, and water companies. Research and list the names of the utility companies and their respective websites on a single slide. Additionally, provide steps and information on how to sign up for each utility service. This information can be found on the websites of the utility companies or by calling their customer service departments.

Step 4: Include information on other moving considerations
Include one to three additional slides that offer information on other moving considerations. This could include:

1. Possible moving companies and their prices: Research moving companies that operate in your chosen city and collect information on their services and pricing. Include this information along with relevant images.

2. Specific documents needed for obtaining a new driver's license: Research the requirements for obtaining a driver's license in the state you are moving to. Include information on the necessary documents, such as proof of residency, proof of identity, and any other required documents. Provide an example of a change of address form and list the website where this form can be found.

3. Additional tips, advice, or information: Include any other helpful tips, advice, or information you come across during your research. This could include information on finding employment, schools, healthcare providers, or any other relevant information that would assist someone planning to relocate to another state.

Throughout your presentation, include a minimum of three relevant images to enhance the visual appeal of the slides. Finally, make sure to list all your sources on a separate slide or in the slide notes, acknowledging the websites, books, or any other resources you used to gather the information. This will give credit to your research sources and make your plan more reliable.
