Read the following news story an answer the questions that follow: An Amtrak passenger train and a Honda Accord collided Wednesday morning, sending two people to the hospital and tying up traffic throughout Miami for several hours. The Honda Accord, driven by Lindsay Martinez, was heading west on State Street shortly after 8 a.m., when it crashed into the northbound train, said Sgt. John Jones, police spokesman. Fire-rescue workers used a Jaws of Life device to remove the woman and her son Louis from the car, according to Fred Corbin, fire-rescue spokesman. The 77-year-old woman was taken to Miami General Hospital with serious injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said. Louis Martinez, 46, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Dade Memorial Hospital. Police are investigating what caused the crash and are looking into whether the crossing gates malfunctioned. Maintenance crews were working on the railroad tracks at the time of the crash, however, it is not yet known if that was a contributing factor, Corbin said. The New York-bound Amtrak train resumed service at 10 a.m. No one on the train was injured, an Amtrak official said. The morning rush to work was messy as police stopped traffic in both directions on State Street for three hours. “It took me an hour to go one mile,” said Tim Connors, a mortgage broker from Aventura. “I missed an important meeting, but I called my boss and he understood.” This article is an example of: (1 point) Responses Obituary Obituary Feature Story Feature Story News Story News Story Sports Story
