The Honda Accord, driven by Lindsay Martinez, was heading west on State Street shortly after 8 a.m., when it crashed into the northbound train, said Sgt. John Jones, police spokesman. Fire-rescue workers used a Jaws of Life device to remove the woman and her son Louis from the car, according to Fred Corbin, fire-rescue spokesman. The 77-year-old woman was taken to Miami General Hospital with serious injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said. Louis Martinez, 46, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Dade Memorial Hospital. Maintenance crews were working on the railroad tracks at the time of the crash, however, it is not yet known if that was a contributing factor, Corbin said.
